Five Fingers Wash the Face - Team Work

Launched in 2012, this project supports underserved communities in Somalia by enhancing healthcare education. It established the Public Health Department at Amoud University in Borama, leading to the graduation of the first public health students in 2015.

Healing Communities, Building Futures: A Community Health Initiative in Sheikh Usman

In the heart of Sheikh Usman—one of the least economically resourced areas near Borama, Somalia—the Kayd Foundation and the Community Service Program of the College of Health Sciences launched a groundbreaking initiative that’s transforming lives and redefining healthcare education.

We chose Sheikh Usman for its urgent need: a community with minimal access to healthcare, no formal addressing system, and families struggling to meet even their most basic medical and social needs. But where others saw a challenge, we saw an opportunity—for healing, learning, and building a better future.
